History of the Society

Cambridge Alumni eBulletin

About the Cambridge Society

The Cambridge Society of Australia (Victoria) aims to encourage closer relations between members of Cambridge University living in Victoria and between members and the University itself. Currently we have about 200 paid-up members. We have excellent relations with the University, though we are not controlled from Cambridge. Events held by the Society include:

  • a monthly luncheon (usually with a guest speaker having at least a tenuous link to Cambridge)

  • casual Friday evening drinks once every month,

  • our annual dinner, and

  • an occasional social or sporting function.

Nominations needed for speakers

We are currently seeking nominations for lunch or dinner speakers later this year and next year.

If you have any good suggestions for interesting speakers with a connection to Cambridge - or if you would like to nominate yourself - Mike Gregson or Anita Eglitis would love to hear from you.

We would also be interested to hear of any other suggestions you have for events to be hosted by the Cambridge Society in Victoria.

A subscription to the Society costs A$20 for 1 year, A$35 for two years or $70 for 5 years.

Committee members and office bearers, as elected at the Annual General Meeting in December 2006, are as follows.

In the interests of encouraging communication and collaboration between Cambridge alumni internationally, we are eventually hoping to offer links to all Cambridge Society websites internationally.   • Our very own Muscat - the perfect Christmas gift! For a number of years we have been arranged a bottling of top class Muscat under our very own Cambridge University of Victoria label. The bottling is done through Campbell's of Rutherglen. Prices are $15 per bottle, or $140 per case of a dozen bottles - and our aim is to provide a service for our members rather than to make a profit.
